Advanced Vape Battery and Safety Guide

Advanced Vape Battery and Safety Guide

Your battery is the engine that drives your vaporizer. Gone are the days of stuffing your huge vape into a duffel bag and hoping that someone brings an extension cord!

As the portable vaporizers were getting introduced into the market, manufacturers faced a hurdle; the source of power for the device.

There was a breakthrough in 2010 when the lithium battery was invented. Since then, multiple portable vaporizers that run off lithium batteries have been manufactured.

The significance of having the right batteries

If you are an experienced vaper, you will agree that the choice of battery really matters when it comes to that customized, out of this world vaping experience. The biggest mistake that most new vapers make when buying a new devices is putting too much weight on tanks, wicks, and coils at the expense of new and advanced batteries. It is important to note that batteries not only power your device, but they also determine the safety of your vaporizer. We have all heard cases of exploding vapes, right?

The vaping industry has made significant steps as far as battery capacity and life are concerned. Manufacturers seem to have finally understood the importance of developing vaporizers that can give you a long vaping experience over a single charge. Who wants to keep having to pause their vaping sessions to charge their batteries?

Factors to consider when selecting the best battery for your vaporizer

Like we have already mentioned, your vaping experience, along with your safety, is dependent upon your battery choice. It is important to note that there are so many types of battery brands out there and getting the best battery for your vaporizer can be a daunting experience. Why? Because you don’t always know what to consider.

Have no fear! We are here to help you make this simple, yet critical decision. Read on and get enlightened!

  • Capacity– The first thing that you should consider when it comes to choosing an ideal vaping device is its capacity. Battery capacity is usually measured in milliampere-hours or simply mAh. This indicates the number of milliamps that can be drawn from your battery in a given period of time. Theoretically, if your battery has a capacity of, let’s say, 3000mAh, this means that you can draw 3000 mA from it per hour. However, it is important to note that this may not always be true, as there are a number of factors that can affect your battery’s performance. Therefore, the battery capacity listed only gives you a general idea of which battery lasts the longest, relatively. Try to go for the batteries with larger capacities (as in the Hydrology9), as they allow you to enjoy a longer vaping experience over a single battery charge.
  • Higher Current Rating– Amperage refers to the amount of current that a cell/battery can produce at a time. This means that a battery with a rating of 2 amp-hour should continuously be able to supply a current of 4 amps for half an hour, or 2 amps for an hour. It is therefore crucial that you go for the batteries with higher current ratings, as this means higher wattage output. Trying to force your battery to produce more current than what it has been designed for can lead to overheating, and in some extreme cases, even explosions! Always let your battery choice be guided by your intended use.
  • High Voltage– If you are using a regulated vaporizer with high voltage, your battery won’t have to work as hard. This means that only a small current is going to be drawn from your battery. Results? A long vaping experience over a single battery charge. For unregulated devices, high voltage means that your battery will allow more current to flow through the coil. A hotter coil leads to more flavor and vapor, allowing you to enjoy the magical ‘throat hits’ that are so popular among cloud chasers.
  • Low Temperature– If you have been in the vaping industry for long, I am sure you have heard about exploding vape devices, which have given people a bad impression of vaping. It is essential that you choose a battery with a low operating temperature. This is because too much heat can interfere with your battery’s performance.

Common mistakes to avoid

Here are some things that could potentially damage your battery and interfere with your vaping experience:

  • Charging batteries for too long– We are all guilty of this! We want to charge our batteries during the night, and so we leave them on a charger unattended. The situation worsens if you charge several batteries at the same time. Because each battery recharges at a different rate, your charger will keep charging to ensure that all the batteries reach a full charge. This means that your vape battery could get overcharged or overheated.
  • Charging your battery on an unsafe surface– When recharging your battery, it is critical that you place the charger on a surface where it is adequately ventilated. This saves it from getting overheated. It is also vital that you put your device as far away as possible from spills and liquids that could damage it.
  • Placing your battery on a combustible surface while charging– This includes placing the battery on a stack of papers or your blankets. If a spark were to be be produced during charging,  this could lead to a fire.

So, is it safe to use a vaporizer to smoke weed? The answer is yes and no. It all depends on how careful you are when using your device. Although it is possible to customize your battery to achieve your desired results, safety should always come first. If you are very new in the vaping industry, you need to be patient before experimenting with tricks like sub-ohming and cloud chasing. This is because a vape explosion could be a matter of life and death.
